Testing TCA peels after Rosacea

I have type 2 rosacea and it took about 4 years to get under control. I used 100% tea tree oil on my face for over a year, then TTO with Tazoret, and then a mix (50% tea tree oil/50% macadamia nut oil) everyday and the pustules have stopped (5 months now). I still should be using Tazoret but I'm just so tired of the struggle, and Covid makes going to the pharmacy extra hard, so I haven't lately. Oh well I don't look too bad.

But the rosacea war has left me with ice pick scars all over my face ☹️ I don't know how to fix them- tca peels? 🤷 it's been a long time... Let's do one just to see if it's safe and if it brings back any more pustules...

I did 20% tca, a lot of my face frosted.Remember that it's better to do layers of low % than just using a stronger %.

And important: I'm still using my tea tree oil mix everyday!

Results: some extra small cyst acne did bubble up on my chin. The dead skin sitting there blocks pores before the skin peels off- I've had this issue every time I TCA peel. This is regular acne and not rosacea nightmare acne ♥️ thank goodness!! No pustules 🙂That's good because I'll need about a thousand more tca peels to get rids of these scars. (In the pics the scars are on the lower left of my mouth, on my cheeks and nose, and by my right eyebrow in the center of my face 🤦)

Update: I did another TCA peel and no pustules this time either 🙂 yay! BUT I did notice that it didn't burn when applied over the ice pick scars ☹️ I felt nothing. No pain.

I think that's a really bad sign.

(review) MUAC 60% Glycolic Acid and 30% TCA Peels

I ordered a couple peels from MakeupArtistsChoice during a 30% off sale (always wait for a sale!)

Shipping: fast but they fill the box with styrofoam cheeto puffs and that crap isn't biodegradable, so yeah... Grrr...

I want to use these peels to help fight wrinkles, mostly on my forehead. I know these peels will not improve my rosacea.

60% Glycolic Acid peel

I think the strongest glycolic face leave-on cream I've ever used was 30% and that left my fave red and sore the next day. Alpha Hydrox 8% glycolic acid cream has been my favorite overnight face product for years, it definitely helped thin out my forehead wrinkles better than anything else (including retin-a).

In the 'before' pic you can see I have some open sores on my face- this is my new reality with rosacea (yay!). You're not supposed to do peels or exfoliate skin with open sores... lol you do you, Boo! My skin's looked like crap the past year, I'm trying the dang peel!!

OK LOL so the peel kinda stings on my sores but annoying/itchy everywhere else. Glycolic acid burned the scab off one sore on my cheek and it bled a little. Overall 60% glycolic acid feels like 10% tca peel on my skin, not bad at all! I'm starting to doubt this "peel" is actually 60%... Worried nothing was happening, I went against the MUAC instructions and left it on until it stopped itching *shrug*

Results immediately my skin felt dry, same feeling after using a benzyl peroxide face wash// 3 days later: My skin never peeled. Not even extra redness or soreness on my sensitive undereye skin, WTF?! My open blemishes dried out, turned into red spots. My skin doesn't look better/smoother/glowy anywhere on my face. I don't think this peel was 60%, nothing happened ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Lame.

TRY #2:before vs. during

A few days later I tried this "60% glycolic acid" again... and again a waste of time and money. MUAC must have mislabeled this bottle, maybe they meant 6% lol I left it on 10min *shrug* No discomfort whatsoever under my eyes and I made sure to soak that area- this really pisses me off. My under eye skin is VERY sensitive but MUAC "60% glycolic acid" has no effect?! I got ripped off.

UPDATE: I tried this on my friend who doesn't really use skincare but does do 20% TCA peels a couple times/year... And she SCREAMED BLOODY MURDER 😂 so I guess my face just is hardcore from using tea tree oil daily? LOL wtf

30% TCA peel

I used a Q-tip and used 30% TCA as spot treatment on my chest freckles. It burned & frosted. It was a quick,intense burn with no lingering pain after 20seconds (weird because with other brands of TCA I've used the pain lingered for minutes). No frosting. My freckles turned dark brown overnight. Slight flaking days later. My freckles look like nothing happened lol. Not the best TCA peel I've ever used but not the worst either.

Final thoughts on MakeUpArtistsChoice: these peels would be good for other women, but they're just not strong enough for my skin.

My TCA Peel At Home Experience (#2)

I decided to try another TCA peel at home, because the first time pics weren't horrific enough! lol

So this is my 20% TCA peel, it's amazing how super model-beautiful I look in these pics

 as my face was burning off :-) I know you're jealous, haters gonna hate!

I rinsed off the peel after 3 minutes (I think) and my face had this gorgeous rose gold *glow* wow!

Clearly I failed to apply the peel evenly all over my face because I ended up with a big burn spot on my cheek :-(

By day 3 my skin was super dry and tight and starting to peel. Moisturizing was pointless.

I had to walk out in the world looking like a burn victim all week- think about this before you decide to do a DIY TCA peel! There's no hiding this nightmare from your friends or classmates or coworkers- especially not family! haha

By day 7 I'm basically done peeling but my face looks like crap, where'd this acne come from?

I tried to cover up this "great new skin!" with some makeup but... it only made me look more fabulous!!

My face looks cakey and the TCA peel didn't remove any fine lines from my undereyes :-(

I tried a Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque to get rid of the red spots and pimples *deep breath* OK!

This TCA peel was another GREAT SUCCESS! OH YAY! I look so great... >fail<
